Privacy Policy

Important — Please Read

This page is maintained by Rising Sun Sober Living to describe how we handle information about residents, applicants, payers, and website visitors. It is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. For advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed attorney in your state. Health information collected by clinical providers (not Rising Sun) is governed by those providers' HIPAA notices, not this policy.

1. Who We Are

Rising Sun Sober Living ("Rising Sun," "we," "our," or "us") operates sober-living homes across Idaho. Our mailing address is 8050 W. Ustick Road, Boise, ID 83704. You can reach us at admin@risingsunsoberliving.com or (208) 898-4668.

2. Information We Collect

  • Application information: name, contact details, date of birth, recovery history, referral source, IDOC/parole status, and answers you provide on our intake forms.
  • Resident records: house assignment, move-in/out dates, payment history, drug-test results, and incident reports kept while you live in our housing.
  • Payment information: name, email, billing address, and the last four digits of your card. Full card numbers are entered directly with our payment processor (Stripe) and are never stored on our servers.
  • Website data: pages visited, device/browser type, approximate location, and similar analytics collected through cookies and Google Analytics.
  • Communications: emails, texts, and call notes between you and our staff.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Reviewing and processing housing applications.
  • Operating our homes, billing, and providing support services.
  • Communicating with you about your residency, payments, or inquiries.
  • Sending newsletters or program updates (you may unsubscribe at any time).
  • Improving our website and understanding visitor activity.
  • Meeting legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.

4. When We Share Information

We share information only when needed to run our program or as required by law:

  • Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) and parole/probation officers: For residents enrolled in re-entry housing, we may share status, attendance, drug-test results, and incident information with IDOC staff and assigned officers as part of the supervision process.
  • Stripe: Payment data is transmitted to Stripe to process card transactions. Stripe's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics: Anonymized website usage data is shared with Google for analytics purposes.
  • Service providers: Email, hosting, and form vendors that help us operate the site and communicate with applicants.
  • Legal authorities: When required by subpoena, court order, or to protect the safety of residents and staff.

We do not sell or "share" (as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act) your personal information, and we have not done so in the prior 12 months. We do not knowingly process personal information of minors under 16 for sale or sharing.

5. Cookies & Analytics

Our website uses cookies and Google Analytics to understand traffic and improve content. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some site features may not work as expected if you do. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where required.

6. Data Retention

We keep application and resident records for as long as needed to run the program and to meet legal, accounting, and IDOC-reporting requirements. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify affected individuals of a security incident as required by applicable state breach-notification law.

8. Your Choices & State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia VCDPA, Colorado CPA, Connecticut CTDPA, Utah UCPA, Texas TDPSA, Oregon OCPA, Montana MCDPA, and similar laws, including the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold and request a copy (right to access / portability).
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of information we are not legally required to keep.
  • Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising (we do not engage in these).
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • Be free from retaliation for exercising your rights.
  • Appeal a denial of a privacy request (we will respond within 45 days).
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the email.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on.

To exercise a right, email admin@risingsunsoberliving.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity before responding and will reply within the timeframe required by your state's law (generally 45 days). You may use an authorized agent; we may require proof of authorization.

9. Health Information & HIPAA

Rising Sun Sober Living is a peer-supported sober-housing provider, not a HIPAA-covered entity. We are not a clinical or treatment provider and do not maintain protected health information (PHI) on your behalf. Drug-test results collected as a condition of residency are housing records used to enforce house rules and IDOC reporting, not clinical records. Clinical records held by your outside provider are governed by their HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

10. Fair Housing & Non-Discrimination

We comply with the federal Fair Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and applicable Idaho fair-housing law. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, disability, or any other class protected by law. Reasonable accommodation requests may be sent to the contact above.

11. Do Not Track

Our site does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because no common industry standard exists, but we honor Global Privacy Control signals where required by law and offer the opt-out choices described above.

12. International Visitors

Our services are intended for residents of the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection rules than your home jurisdiction.

13. Children

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not target our website to children under 13 (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Continued use of our services or website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
