The Rising Sun Lamb Project started in the fall of 2017, when the owners of Rising Sun decided to use their small acreage farm to raise sheep in order to provide organic lamb meat for the residents of Rising Sun. Once the fencing and shelter was installed, they purchased six ewes and one ram.
In the spring of 2018 lambing season began. The ewes delivered twins and triplets increasing the flock to twenty. In December 2018, it was harvest time which was difficult for the owners, but they knew it was going to a good cause. Lamb meat was delivered to all the Rising Sun houses in January 2019, providing a healthy source of protein for the residents and was received with gratitude.
